About the Game & App :-
You play as an American soldier who received a mission to capture a terrorist. The action takes place in the Middle East, in several locations, such as a hospital, a laboratory, a palace, a majordomo (I don’t know what it is), a port, a desert, a construction site and others. In Modern Combat: Sandstorm you will see a wide selection of different weapons, including M16 and AK-47 rifles, an RPG-7 grenade launcher, an MP5A5 machine gun, an M249 light machine gun and an M40 sniper rifle.
Three control schemes are available:
- Virtual joystick on the left for movement, aiming by sliding your finger across the display, a button for shooting;
- Virtual joystick on the left for movement, aiming by sliding your finger across the display, double-tap the target to shoot;
- Left virtual joystick for movement, right virtual joystick for aiming, double tap on target to shoot;
Gameloft also noted that the game will run on a completely new engine, previously not used for any game. So this is far from a remake of old games. The first version of the game will not support multiplayer, but it will be added in updates.
TOUCHHLE APP :-
touchHLE is a high-level emulator for iPhone OS apps. It runs on modern desktop operating systems and Android, and is written in Rust.
touchHLE's high-level emulation (HLE) approach differs from low-level emulation (LLE) in that it does not directly simulate the iPhone/iPod touch hardware. Instead of running iPhone OS inside emulation, touchHLE itself takes the place of iPhone OS and provides its own implementations of the system frameworks (Foundation, UIKit, OpenGL ES, OpenAL, etc). The only code the emulated CPU executes is the app binary and a handful of libraries.
The goal of this project is to run games from the early days of iOS:
Currently: iPhone and iPod touch apps for iPhone OS 2.x and iPhone OS 3.0.
Longer term: iPhone OS 3.1, iPad apps (iPhone OS 3.2), iOS 4.x, …
Never: 64-bit iOS.
Support for apps that aren't games isn't a priority: it's more complex and less fun.
The touchHLE app compatibility database tracks which apps work in touchHLE. It is a crowdsourced effort to which anyone can contribute.
If you're curious about the history and motivation behind the project, you might want to read the original announcement. For an introduction to some of the technical details, check out touchHLE in depth.
